A Senior Home Safety Specialist (SHSS) has been certified with Age Safe® America to assess the homes of seniors for safety concerns. They are trained in fall prevention, fire safety precautions, preparing a home for people with dementia, and more.
Yes! Home Safety Assessments are just one of the services we offer. In addition, we also offer a Home Wellness Assessment, which looks at the individual's particular needs, their community and familial support, their home management systems, and anything else that could improve comfort and quality of life in their current living situation.
After the formal assessment is completed in the home, we develop a plan which gives a comprehensive blueprint that helps the individual or family follow a step-by-step guide to creating a home environment that supports their needs in their current season of life.
We also offer Hands-On Support visits to help with the more tedious work of organizing, creating home management systems, and creating a functional and comfortable environment.
Lastly, we can schedule Follow-Up appointments to re-assess and tweak the plan as needed.
Just like a business, every home has roles, routines, and processes that keep things running—even if they're never formally defined.
Think about who handles the mail and bills, plans meals, does the laundry, schedules appointments, maintains the yard, arranges transportation, or coordinates household repairs. These responsibilities can easily fall through the cracks when someone's health, abilities, or circumstances change.
I help older adults and their families identify what needs to happen, determine who will be responsible, and establish practical systems that make everyday life easier to manage.
As life changes, the systems that support a home may need to change, too.
This service could benefit older adults living independently, families supporting an older loved one, people preparing for or adjusting to a move, and any older adult who has recently had a change in physical or mental ability.
We do not offer professional organizing services or professional interior decorating services. Although part of our plan after the assessment may incorporate some organizing and basic decorating, it is not the primary focus of our services.
I hold a Master of Social Work degree from Texas State University and have professional experience supporting older adults and their families. I am not currently licensed as a social worker, and Seasons of Home does not provide social work, counseling, or therapy services.
Although Seasons of Home is not a companionship or personal-care service, we bring a compassionate, person-centered approach to every visit. We take time to listen, learn what matters to you, and work alongside you with dignity and respect.
Due to liability, we are not able to manage your finances, handle your checkbook, or log in to your accounts. What we can do is help you put systems in place, such as auto-pay for your bills, and point you in the direction of companies who are able to help with the management of finances.
No, we do not offer long-term home management. Our role is to help you and your support system develop a plan which will give you the tools to keep your home comfortable and functional. This may look like organizing papers, developing systems, or helping search for professional providers (caregivers, handypeople, medication management services, and other home-support providers.) Our process is to come in, assess, and help you reach your goals.
We can complete a comprehensive safety assessment of your home to see if there are any areas of improvement that can be addressed as you age. We can also do a home well-being assessment to see how well your home is functioning to support your quality of life.
Living far away can make it difficult to know whether your loved one's home is safe, comfortable, and meeting their needs. With your loved one's knowledge and agreement, Seasons of Home can assess their living environment, identify opportunities for improvement, and help develop a practical plan. We can also help coordinate next steps and connect you with local resources when additional support is needed.
A home in rhythm with life.
